This is "Checkmate", a voice-controlled chess board. Users can simply state their move using common chess vernacular instead of physically moving a piece. This allows those with physical disabilities to continue enjoying the game they love and makes long distance over-the-board play possible.
Little Brother (L. B.) is an autonomous mobile robot designed to participate in a robot tank battle competition at The Cooper Union. The robot uses an RPLIDAR-A1, a 360° laser range scanner that scans and detects objects all around it, which aids in its ability to avoid obstacles. The robot uses infrared receiver diodes to detect infrared light sources, which prompts the robot to use its slingshot cannon. The slingshot mechanism is actuated by a servo motor which launches a ping pong ball at either a robot tank opponent or their home base.
The 2022-2023 Design Elements class began designing an electric bicycle. We split responsibility among the class for different aspects of the bike; there’s a powertrain team, structures team, and a driver controls team. Isabelle Graziolo, Ezra Sardes and I chose to be on the driver controls team, which was tasked with designing the handlebars, brakes, pedals, and the stem.
This Final Project consists of two parts. The first part uses an aviation accidents database to categorize accident types as either an incident or accident depending on other variables. This was conducted using K Nearest Neighbors as well as Support Vector Machine algorithms. The second part uses Apple Stock Data from 2010-2020 to create a forecast for future prices.
For my Advanced Product Development class, I created the ASCENT Stair Climber which is an easily installable device that helps lift daily burdens up and down the stairs for elderly home owners who lack the strength.
Robot Sumo, also known as Sumobots, is a competition that takes inspiration from the sport of sumo wrestling. In sumo wrestling, two contenders strive to either push their opponent outside a designated ring or toss their challenger on the ground without committing a prohibited move. With the combination of robotics, sumobotting takes the same principles and has the same objective as sumo wrestling. This robot was created by Team G.A.Z.E (Ginger, Andy, Zachary and Eugene) to compete in our class's sumbot tournament.
The main objective of this experiment is to measure the lift and drag force of a set of airfoils used by The Cooper Union’s Motorsports team using the wind tunnel. To measure the lift and drag force, a scaled model of the airfoil was made from the CAD design provided by the client. The appropriate scaling variables with the specific position of model inside the wind tunnel was also determined to include reasonable ground effect in the wind tunnel. The measured lift and drag were plotted and analyzed in relation to the wind speed. Lift and drag coefficient were also plotted and compared to theoretical value given from the client.
In Redmond, Washington, you'll find the Nintendo of America Headquarters, a modern and environmentally-conscious building that prioritizes flexibility, functionality, and sustainability. Its design emphasizes natural light, panoramic views, and an eco-friendly footprint, all while reflecting Nintendo's identity as a pioneer in the interactive gaming industry. Yet, some have observed that it may come across as overly corporate, missing a touch of creativity and personality. Here, we propose several ideas for transformation to inject a sense of playfulness and liveliness into the space.
The task was to make self-loading power tool for bolts. This device would be a drill that is somehow loaded with bolts. It would then automatically set the bolt onto the driver on the drill such that the user only has to align the end of the drill with the bolt and drill. After drilling, this tool should have a way to reload the following bolt fairly quickly.
Tasked with breaking the internet with a viral project, my group and I created the "Real-Life Hawkeye Bow" which would assist users to hit the intended target with 100% accuracy using various technologies.
